ACEI 2012 Conference Social Program

Tentatively the program is as follows. More details will be provided in due course.

1. Thursday, 21 June 14:00-14:30 A workshop at the Manga Museum including a short talk by professor on Japanese Manga

18:30- A short speech on the formation and culture of Kyoto City by Tetsuo Yamaori (religious philosopher in Japan)(temple near campus)
Welcome drinks at the café in Kanbaikan
2. Friday, 22 June Ikebana performance
3. Saturday, 23 June 19:00 Gala Dinner
Dinner (Buffet) at Niijima Kaikan (price will be included in the registration fee). "Rokusai-Nenbutsu" Buddhism religious dance will be performed. The dance originates from Priest Kuya's dance raying for the end of a plague in the 10th century.
4. Sunday, 24 June after the conference Excursion programs will be offered by a travel agency.

Tofuku-ji Tsuten-kyō bridge
Tofuku-ji is the head temple of the Tofukuji School of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. It was built in 1236.There are a number of gardens in the various precincts of Tōfuku-ji.The temple features a large number of Japanese maple trees, and is most crowded during the autumn season when people flock to see the autumn foliage. It is a tradition to view the leaves from the Tsūten-kyō bridge.
